Community Invited to Faith and Fitness 5K Run and Walk
Next Level Church is encouraging residents of Bowling Green to join in its Faith and Fitness 5K event this Saturday at Preston Miller Park. The gathering is designed to blend physical activity with spiritual fellowship while raising funds for the church's BRIDGE Ministry program.
Combining Health, Faith, and Fellowship
The Faith and Fitness 5K seeks to bring people together in support of well-being on multiple levels. According to Myra Wardlow, the event coordinator, "We're hoping to gather the community for health and fitness. Of course, we believe in the faith first and then fitness. Our bodies are a temple. We got to take care of them." This reflects the event’s mission to connect faith and fitness in a meaningful way for participants of all backgrounds.
Supporting the BRIDGE Ministry
Proceeds from the 5K will benefit the BRIDGE Ministry, which stands for Bringing Restoration Into Divine Order With Great Expectation. The ministry aims to help those in the Bowling Green community, including individuals experiencing homelessness.
Event Details: Activities and Registration
The 5K run and walk will begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday, with a half-mile children's race for ages 5 to 12 scheduled at 9:15 a.m. The event is open to the public and welcomes people at any level of fitness—whether or not they attend Next Level Church or have prior race experience.
Registration for adults is $35, and children can participate for $5. All participants will receive medals, and additional awards will be presented to age-group placers and overall winners. "We invite everyone to come out," said Diana Alexander, co-coordinator of the event. "We want you to feel welcome. We will welcome you in no matter how much you’re able to do."
Race Packet Pickup and Spaghetti Dinner
Participants can collect their race packets on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Next Level Church. A spaghetti dinner will also be available during that time, offering both vegan and meat options. The dinner is complimentary for registered race participants, while others may join for a $5 fee.
Bringing the Community Together
Organizers emphasize that the Faith and Fitness 5K is not only about physical health but also about fostering connections within the community and supporting those in need. Information about the event can be found on the Next Level Church of BG Facebook page.
