Corydon, Indiana — In the Kentucky region, rising demand for addiction recovery has prompted a major expansion at Genesis House, a leading women recovery home dedicated to supporting women battling addiction.
Meeting a Growing Need for Recovery Support
Founded in 2020 by Meghan Stockdale—herself a survivor of addiction—Genesis House Corydon has quickly become a cornerstone in women addiction support throughout southern Indiana and the wider Kentucky region. The non-profit facility has served more than 200 women in Harrison County, offering a sober living home environment that focuses on long-term recovery rather than fixed program lengths.
Expansion Brings Additional Beds and New Center
The latest recovery expansion involves the purchase and renovation of a historic church building on North Capitol Avenue. This site will provide space for an additional 21 beds and house a new, comprehensive recovery center. The initiative is part of Genesis House Corydon’s ongoing response to increasing numbers of women and mothers seeking safe, reliable addiction treatment locally.
Introducing a Recovery Engagement Center
The new recovery engagement center is designed to support women in all stages of their recovery journey. Graduates of the program, as well as current residents, will have access to resources including classes, certified staff available around the clock, and meetings with sponsors. Unique to the project is its inclusion of mothers recovery services, providing support to women with toddlers as they transition back into the community.
Funding and Community Support Remain Vital
The estimated total cost for the Genesis House expansion stands at $776,000, with approximately $200,000 still required to fully complete the project. Community support and donations are critical, as the organization strives to keep its doors open to as many women in need as possible. Local supporters and businesses across southern Indiana and neighboring Kentucky have already contributed, but additional funding is actively being sought to ensure ongoing access to high-quality addiction recovery services.
Focus on Second Chances and Ongoing Recovery
Stockdale, who leads the Genesis House Corydon team, remains committed to the core mission of offering women a second chance through hope and recovery. She points to the real impact the program has had on families and the broader community. By prioritizing readiness and individual needs over preset timelines, Genesis House is helping women build solid foundations for their futures, with ongoing access to addiction recovery resources.
Regional Impact and Looking Forward
As both Kentucky and southern Indiana see firsthand the impact of the substance use crisis, the expansion of Genesis House reflects a regional commitment to supporting women and families on their recovery journey. The upgraded sober living home, enhanced women addiction support offerings, and expanded mothers recovery services together set a new standard for comprehensive care.
